Vicki Demarse-Giroux has been a part of The Development Corporation’s Board of Directors since 2017. If you don’t recognize Vicki from her work with TDC, you may recognize her smiling face from the front lobby of La Quinta Inn & Suites Plattsburgh, where she works as general manager, or from Giroux Family Farms where her family raises and milks cows.
As an active member of TDC’s Business Attraction and Retention Committee, we thought we would learn a little more about Vicki and why she thinks the Plattsburgh region is a great place to work, live, and raise a family.

TDC: Where did you grow up?
All across the North Country – Chateaugay, Massena, Ogdensburg, and finally settling in Malone for my high school years. My Dad worked in education for the Department of Corrections so our family would move around the North Country as he was promoted to different positions.
TDC: Share some fun facts about yourself.
My husband Todd and I have one daughter, Abigail.
We own a dairy farm that keeps our family busy. However, we recently invested in machinery to automate the milking process after we lost our barn in a fire in 2017. We are the first in the tri-county area with this technology that uses robotics to milk the cows.
TDC: What sets TDC’s board apart from other organizations you are a part of?
The board and staff’s willingness to work with other partners in the community for the greater good of the Plattsburgh region. You can see the results of the synergies as businesses in TDC business parks grow and prosper.
TDC: What is a little-known fact about the Plattsburgh region?
Bluff Point Golf Resort is considered to be the oldest golf resort in the US.
Plattsburgh was the birthplace of ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps), first called the Plattsburgh Experience.
When Vicki isn’t working at the Hotel or on the family farm, she enjoys spending time with her husband Todd and daughter Abigail. She also enjoys traveling, reading, sewing and helping with Battle of Plattsburgh events.
