Rural Business Development grant supports local transportation cluster

The North Country Chamber of Commerce has received a $74,000 grant to continue development of the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans). The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Business Development grant will enhance the center’s efforts as a cluster organization supporting the North Country’s 34 Transportation Equipment and Aerospace companies.

TDC acted a convener in the development of a transportation cluster in Greater Plattsburgh. In 2015, NAmTrans was formed to provide a framework for the long-term strategic development of the cluster. TDC’s Economic Developer Victoria Duley provided economic and impact data as part of the grant application.
