Aviation has been a large part of Greater Plattsburgh, NY since the 1950s and continues to grow and expand with the expansion of the Plattsburgh International Airport and training programs such as the Champlain Valley Technical Education Center (CV-TEC).
“In 2015, the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans) was formed to provide a framework for the strategic development of Greater Plattsburgh’s transportation equipment cluster. From the very beginning the collaborative efforts of our local transportation equipment and aerospace companies extended to organizations in Quebec who share the same need for successful workforce development and supply chain expansion,” said TDC’s President and CEO Paul A. Grasso, Jr. Signing a memorandum of understanding on April 5, 2017 with Aero Montreal, formalizes our partnership and underscores the respect our two regions have for each other’s manufacturing prowess, and for the power we continue to see in a bi-national approach to competing in today’s global transportation marketplace.
- In July, 2016, Norsk Titanium confirmed that Plattsburgh had been selected as the location for the world’s first industrial scale high-technology manufacturing plant for titanium aerospace components. The company plans to invest $1 billion during the first 10 years of operations.
- CV-TEC is the premier provider of career and technical education in the region. In response to anticipated local and state-wide business and industry training needs, and in response to the Clinton County Legislature’s efforts to expand the industrial scope of the Plattsburgh International Airport, CV-TEC has developed an Aviation Technology Program
